Amol (Persian: آمل [ɒˈmol]; ) is a city in the Central District of Amol County, Mazandaran province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district. Amol is located on the Haraz River bank. It is situated less than 20 kilometres (12 mi) south of the Caspian Sea and less than 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) north of the Alborz mountains. It is 124 kilometres (77 mi) northeast of Tehran, and 60 kilometres (37 mi) west of the provincial capital, Sari.
