Hill town commanding the High Tell, Assuras' theatre (68 m) crowns a limestone spur above Oued Zanfour, with forum, arch and Byzantine chapel. Libyco-Punic stelae and Roman epitaphs show continuity. Recorded context — Period: Numidian to Roman (2nd c BCE – 5th c CE); Culture: Numidian / Roman (Africa Proconsularis); Field status: partially excavated; Materials: limestone, marble; Condition: theatre cavea and scaena 6 m high, cisterns and arch.
