Behren-Lübchin — Slavic lake island fortress (9th–12th c, Feldberg–Fresendorf phase, peak 10th–12th c Circipanian) on Großer See lake island 12 km southeast Teterow, Mecklenburg Tollense–Peene lake plateau. Excavated E. Schuldt and J. Herrmann: island hillfort 100×80 m 1 ha timber-earth with stone facing, causeway 30 m to outer bailey 2 ha, 9th–12th c houses, Slavic pottery, bronze spurs, hoard 12th c destruction fire 1150–1180 (Henry the Lion Saxon conquest). Circipanian–Obotrite frontier lake island controlling Teterow–Peene corridor. Open to reed. Mark Brandenburg lake chain. Compare Gross Raden island type.
