About Besshatyr Shylbyr Gorge South Mound (Gorge Mouth South Sentinel)
Outlier mound 1.2 km south of Besshatyr core at Shylbyr Gorge mouth (670 m), south sentinel of Besshatyr necropolis. Mound 15 (32 m diam, 5 m high) with peripheral stone ring (16-m) and 3.5-m-deep central shaft to timber chamber (partially collapsed). Silkadv Atlas: ‘4 km north and slightly east of beginning of Shylbyr Gorge’ places Besshatyr core gorge-adjacent; south mound commands gorge narrows (45 m). Finds: bronze arrowheads + Saka gold stag plaque looted 2018 but shaft left. Park ranger cordon 500 m.
