About
About Brasil Island (Second Brasil) – Phantom South of Hy-Brasil
A second Brasil distinct from Hy-Brasil's circular 51°N 16°W core appears on Dalorto 1325 and Catalan 1375 as 'Brasil' rock 60 km south of Hy-Brasil, distinguished by its pointy shape on Pizzigano. This southern Brasil (51.0°N 16.0°W) persisted as a 25 km rock phantom after Hy-Brasil was mapped further south, showing medieval duplication where one Irish apocalypse rock was split into two entries at different latitudes. No Porcupine seamount exists at 51°N 16°W – the bank is 3000 m plain south of actual Porcupine Bank at 53°N. The double Brasil proves phantom replication by latitude error.
Why it mattersExample of phantom duplication; southern Brasil anchors Hy-Brasil replication analysis.
