El Baul in Escuintla, Guatemala is a Late Preclassic to Late Classic (400 BCE – 800 CE) rock art attributed to Cotzumalhuapa culture. Cotzumalhuapa core with Bilbao, El Baúl, El Castillo. 70 basalt monuments, Monument 1 sacrifice scene, 11 m long causeway, ballcourt with skull rack. Systematic excavation and published survey document stratified deposits, architectural phasing and georeferenced plans. Built c.200 BCE, apogee 500–700 CE; purpose: Pacific slope capital displaying monumental boulder sculptures and ballcourt cult. Significance includes multi-phase occupation and landscape setting at 340 m elevation.
