Kalaa (Qal'a) of Beni Hammad is the 1007 CE Hammadid capital 1418 m in Hodna mountains, UNESCO 102. Fortified city 1007–1090 with Great Mosque (13×7 m minaret 20 m, 25 m high), Palace of Fanal (lacustrine garden palace), Palace of Light with ceramic muqarnas, and Dar al-Bahr reservoir 67×47 m. Hammadids built over Sanhaja Berber Zirid. Abandoned 1090 under Hilalian pressure for Bejaia. Islamic architecture origin for Almoravid Andalusi. Excavated 1900s Golvin.
