Khao Sam Kaeo Chumphon — Iron Age trans-Asian port (4th c BCE–2nd c CE) on Khao Sam Kaeo hill at Thai Kra Isthmus 5 km Gulf of Thailand 5 km from Chumphon, excavated 1991–2007 by B. Bellina–P. Silapanth (French CNRS/EFEO). Khao Sam Kaeo revealed early urbanism on hill (30 ha with moat, brick building, jetty), Northern Indian Rouletted Ware (Arikamedu type), Han Chinese ceramics, Roman carnelian, nephrite lingling-o (Vietnam–Philippines), and Tamil etched beads proving 4th c BCE Gulf-of-Thailand→Indian Ocean trade before Oc Eo Funan. Northern Indian–Mediterranean–Chinese port bridging Bay of Bengal and South China Sea across Kra isthmus. Foundry and bead workshop on hill summit.
