About
About Marcahuasi — Second Plateau Amphitheatre and Fortune Altar (Lima Andes)
Second mesa plateau of Marcahuasi stone forest 3950 m above San Pedro de Casta, where andesite wind-faceted hoodoos form amphitheatre 80 m ring and 'Fortune Altar' 15 m mesa with human face chullpa-like silhouettes. Propounded by Daniel Ruzo (1952) as Lemurian-Tiahuanaco megalithic carvings of human heads, camel and lion; geologically are Quaternary andesite tafoni shaped by freeze-thaw and wind. Indigenous tradition ties plateau to Wari? No ceramics stratified. No excavation — geomorphology only. Treated hypothetical/pseudo-fringe? But keep hypothetical per instruction paititi variants style, not pseudoarchaeology rigorous? classify hypothetical — natural geofact promoted as carved.
Why it mattersPareidolia test case — natural second-mesa amphitheatre illustrates Andes geofact cultural attribution bias; contrast to authentic Chavín stone carving with tool marks.
