Nimrud (Kalhu) – Neo-Assyrian capital canalization by Ashurnasirpal II (883–859 BCE): Upper Zab canal (7m wide) cutting conglomerate ridge with 10m tunnel (Negub Tunnel) and Khinu/Mejira dam diverting Zab to irrigate 10,000 ha Nimrud plain. Sennacherib extended to 95 km Bavian-Khosr canal system feeding Nineveh 50,000 inhabitants; Jacobsen-Adams survey.
