About Priene Bouleuterion Temple — Athena Precinct Council Sanctuary
Distinguished council-sanctuary 40 m east of the Temple of Athena Polias at Priene, comprising the perfectly preserved Bouleuterion (20×21 m with 640 seats) paired with a small Ionian temple of Athena–Boule (6×9 m) and sacred stoa housing the Priene calendar inscription (9 BCE) recording Augustus's birthday as new year. Milesian hippodamian grid masterpiece 350 BCE by Pytheos/Hermogenes school. UNESCO buffer 1012 Ephesus.
