Festival temple of Amenhotep III (1400 BCE, Nebmaatre) at Soleb on west bank, 55×25 m sandstone pylon temple dedicated to Amun and deified king, with sphinx avenue to Nile and satellite pyramids/shaft tombs for priests and Kushite reuse (Horemheb to Napatan). Largest Egyptian temple south of Amara West. Five mudbrick shaft pyramids 8–12 m base in adjacent cemetery with chapel reliefs. Excavated Schiff-Giorgini IFAO 1950s–70s, re-studied Beaux and Walsh. Meroitic church overlays temple hypostyle.
