About Sybaris — Northern Crati Diversion Canal Trace
2-km-long silted canal 18–24 m wide detected by magnetometry and 2021 CNR coring on the Sibari Plain north levee. 2 m of Crati alluvium that subsequently buried Thurii and Copia. The northern trace complements the southern Crati diversion (known from Parco del Cavallo) and implies a deliberate two-canal river trap that drowned the Achaean colony. 1 m high) are exposed in a 14-m trench.
