About Tell Selenkahiyeh Southern Terrace
Tell Selenkahiyeh Southern Terrace is the lower-town terrace south of the four-tell cluster (15 ha) on the Euphrates west bank, salvaged before Lake Assad (Tabqa Dam) rose 20 m. Van Loon's southern terrace trenches expose EBA dense housing with Akkadian cylinder sealings, a Post-Akkadian pit horizon, and MBA Khabur redistribution faunal assemblage — documenting an EBA urban cycle (2600–2000 BCE) tracking Akkadian empire periphery to Post-Akkadian pastoral resurgence on the Euphrates.
