Huaca Las Balsas at Túcume — Lambayeque/Chimú to Inca pyramid field (c.1000–1532 CE). Among 26 adobe pyramids over 220 ha centred on La Raya mountain; Las Balsas (45 × 35 m base, 18 m high) excavated by T. Heyerdahl & Narváez 1989-94 with Reed-boat friezes (totora balsas). Friezes of seabirds, divers and balsas link to Túcume maritime myth. Inca occupation atop with Inca adobe over Chimú.
Why it mattersFrieze is only maritime iconography in Lambayeque pyramids; Inca overlay documents empire relay.
