Valley of the Golden Mummies is the 10 km Greco-Roman necropolis (332 BCE–641 CE) at Bahariya Oasis 380 km SW Cairo with 250 excavated tombs (10,000 est. total) discovered 1996 Zahi Hawass, many gilded masks 950 g gold. Tombs show 10 m shaft to rock-cut chambers 5×4 m with 4–30 mummies each. Oasis was Roman vine export and Christian. Black Mountain viewpoint. Bahariya's 1996 find largest mummy cache in Egypt. Actively reburied after study.
