Yaxha North Acropolis in Petén, Guatemala is a Late Preclassic to Late Classic (350 BCE – 900 CE) ancient city attributed to Maya (Yaxha) culture. Third largest Petén city; 9 causeways, 500 structures, Twin Pyramid complexes E-Group. North Acropolis holds 9 temples with Early Classic stucco friezes. Excavated 1989–present by IDAEH/UNESCO. Systematic excavation and published survey document stratified deposits, architectural phasing and georeferenced plans. Built c.300 BCE, apogee 600–800 CE; purpose: Island-lake capital with causeway linked acropoleis overlooking Lake Yaxha. Significance includes multi-phase occupation and landscape setting at 180 m elevation.
