About
About Yinshan Central Dahekou Ridge Rock Art
Central Yinshan ridge crest 2.3 km north of the Dahekou gorge floor, comprising 180 boulders with 340 petroglyphs bridging Yinshan northern naturalistic style and Helan southern shamanic mask style: panel mix of geometric masks, ibex herds, horse archers and early Turkic runelike tamgas (c.1200 BCE–600 CE). The ridge was a lookout and signal beacon linking Wuhai–Zhuozi (桌子山) to the main Yinshan galleries; beacon stone cairns (Oboo) surmount each 500 m. Unlike gully galleries, ridge panels are oriented panoramic south toward the Yellow River great bend, suggesting landscape sightline ritual.
Why it mattersRidge beacon gallery linking Yinshan–Zhuozi to Dahekou gorge, with panoramic Yellow River bend sightline panels.
