Cacaxtla in Tlaxcala, Mexico is a Epiclassic (650 – 900 CE) ancient city attributed to Olmeca-Xicalanca culture. Gran Basamento murals: Battle Mural (110 warriors), Bird Man, Scorpion Man – Maya style but central Mexico. Xochitecatl twin. Systematic excavation and published survey document stratified deposits, architectural phasing and georeferenced plans. Built c.650 CE, murals 750 CE; purpose: Fortified acropolis and mural capital bridging Teotihuacan collapse and Toltec rise. Significance includes multi-phase occupation and landscape setting at 2300 m elevation.
