Gonur Depe is the 55-ha capital of the Bactria-Margiana Archaeological Complex (BMAC/Oxus civilization, c.2400–1600 BCE) in Karakum — fortified palace-citadel, royal necropolis (3000 graves), Atashgah fire temple precursor, and unlooted Royal Tomb 3220 with gold, lapis and wagon burial. Sarianidi excavations revealed BMAC as high culture bridging Elam and Indus, with irrigation canals and Togolok temple satellite.
