About Heliodorus Garuda Pillar
Heliodorus Garuda Pillar — 6.4-m Garuda-column erected c.150–113 BCE by Heliodorus, Greek ambassador of Indo-Greek king Antialcidas to Sunga king Bhagabhadra, as Garuda-dhvaja before Vasudeva (Krishna) temple at Besnagar. Prakrit Brahmi inscription (ASI N-MP-278) reads 'Devadevasa Vasudeva garudadhvajo ayam karito Heliodorena'. Earliest epigraphic syncretism of Greek and Bhagavata Vaishnavism. 20 ft 7 in monolith with Garuda capital now in Vidisha museum, Uttaranchal lotus medallion base. Besnagar Greek–Indian diplomacy locus.
