Large Kushite temple complex on east bank north of Dongola plain, with Temple T (Taharqo, 690 BCE, 40×30 m sandstone pylon), Temple A (Amenhotep III) and extensive town with pyramidal tombs south. Taharqo (25th Dynasty) stelae describing Memphis campaign and Nile flood. Kushite royal center between Napata and Meroe. Excavated Griffith-Sayce 1929–31 and Sudan team 1980s, Macadam. Meroitic and Christian overlays with church in temple forecourt.
