Southern Neolithic ash mound (c.3000–1400 BCE) in Tumkur granite country — massive cattle-dung scorched mound 12 m high (100×80 m), excavated 1960s by B.K. Gururaja Rao, yielding Neolithic ground basalt axes, copper trace and Sanganakallu-type pottery with pre-ash-mound pastoral enclosures. Kudakanahalli belongs to the Karnataka ash-mound phenomenon where seasonal dung heaps were ritual-burnt at 600°C, producing vitrified ash — only site near Tumkur with intact peripheral cattle pen sequence proving Andhra–Karnataka dairy transhumance before millet agriculture.
