Yaz Depe in Murghab delta is type-site of Yaz I–III Iron culture (c.1200–500 BCE) — Early Iron fortified village with handmade painted Yaz ware, successor to BMAC Gonur. Three-phase fortified settlement with citadel and handmade pottery, then wheel-made Achaemenid Yaz III. Masson and Sarianidi noted its Achaemenid satrapal farm and canal.
