Mansourah is the 1299–1307 Marinid siege-camp turned fortified city 4 km W of Tlemcen, built by Sultan Abu Yaqub to blockade Zayyanid Tlemcen for 8-year siege (longest medieval siege in Maghreb). Encloses 101 ha with 4 km trapezoidal rampart 10 m high with 3 gates, Great Mosque of Mansourah (1303) with 38 m minaret half-standing, Marinid palace Dar al-Malik and bath. Abandoned 1307 when besiegers lifted after Yaqub assassination. Ruins later quarried but mosque-tower remains. Tlemcen UNESCO tentative.
